A flag-raising ceremony commemorating the National Constitution Day of the Slovak Republic was held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at noon in the North Atrium of the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis.
Hosted by the Office of Protocol at The International Center and the Honorary Consulate of the Slovak Republic, the ceremony brought together representatives of the Slovak and Indiana communities to recognize Slovakia’s national day and celebrate the longstanding ties between Slovakia and the United States.
The ceremony was held in the presence of The Honorable Steve Zlatos, Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic, who represented Slovakia during the observance. The raising of the Slovak flag at the Indiana Statehouse provided a meaningful display of national pride and friendship, symbolizing Slovakia’s heritage, independence, and its relationship with the State of Indiana and the broader American community.
The event at the historic Indiana Statehouse offered an opportunity for guests to honor Slovak culture and traditions while recognizing the contributions of Slovak Americans and the continuing connections between the Slovak Republic and Indiana.
