According to a new study, trademark filings can serve as valuable indicators for investors. Researchers found that using a “trademark intensity” ratio (annual number of trademark filings per year divided by total assets for the year) trading strategy produced returns of 7.8 percentage points higher on average than returns of portfolios that did not consider “trademark Intensity” in their portfolios.
